Lead Platform Engineer

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Platform Lead Engineer will work in collaboration with the Analytics, Consulting and IT teams to implement and support technical solutions for the  organization.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborates with Analytics team, Consultants,  IT and external partners to develop, implement and support the computing environment for Gamma in China.

• Provide leadership and guidance to squad members and junior team members.
• Work with vendors to develop solutions and process requests for infrastructure hosted in the cloud.
  • As part of developing any solution, must be able to translate the various business needs into technical requirements and solutions and identify strategic and financial impacts of any technical solution or offering.
• Deliver infrastructure and solutions in a timely manner.
• Collaborate and coordinate work with other internal squads.
• Work on improvement and automation of processes and request management system.
• Produce detailed functional and technical documentation for developed solutions.
• Maintain the local Analytics-specific technology, including proactive and reactive maintenance, backups and recovery, upgrades, and changes.
• Manage licensing of Analytics tools, including development of technical solutions to manage individual product licenses in collaboration with IT Client Architecture team.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education or Certifications

• Bachelor/Master degree in IT, Computer science, or related field.
• Cloud Technology Certification(s) a plus
• Certification (Preferably Linux related) a plus

Work Experience

• 6+ years of relevant experience in a commercial IT setting.

Functional /Technical Skills

• Experience with Cloud-based Services and Support – Alibaba Cloud a must. AWS/Azure/GCP experience a plus.
• Project Management experience, certifications (PMI, Prince2, etc.) a plus
• Experience supporting underlying Infrastructure for Data warehousing, Business Intelligence, Big Data
  • Manipulating and transporting large data sets
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Cloud Formation, Puppet a plus
• Experience with CI/orchestration and testing – CircleCI/Jenkins or similar tools
• Development or scripting experience
  • Comfortable with CLI
  • Languages: Python and/or PowerShell preferred
• Working knowledge of web services such as SOAP, RESTful and related technologies (JSON, XML, etc)
• Working knowledge of DevOps practices
• Strong understanding of IT security best practices and secure data management
• Knowledge of networking, including TCP/IP routing, firewalls and related technologies
• Experience supporting Server platforms – Windows & Linux
• Experience with Analytics tools such as Alteryx & Tableau a plus
