International Wholesale Trade Manager

Primus International Inc. is hiring an International Wholesale Trade Manager to manage our company’s import and export business activities between Canada and China. This position reports directly to the General Manager.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

• University or college degree is required

• 8 to 10 years of experience in wholesale trade, both import and export, in the Chinese market, including product sourcing, negotiating price and terms, assessing and overseeing logistics, overseeing quality and ensuring efficient export

• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a wholesale trade manager or senior manager in an import/export company dealing with trade to/from China

• A detailed understanding of Chinese import and export practices, rules and regulations

• Extensive market research and analysis skills with an excellent grasp of Chinese consumer market trends and purchasing habits

• In-depth understanding of logistics procedures, customs requirements, and inventory management for international trade, particularly as it pertains to China

• Fluent in Mandarin and able to negotiate sourcing, logistics and sales contracts, conduct market research and liaise with clients or officials

• Experience in developing marketing campaigns and messaging to achieve sales targets for the Chinese market, familiar with Chinese marketing platforms such as Alibaba, WeChat, local tradeshows, and others.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Review, refine and improve Primus’ international trade strategy and operations, with a focus on China

• Identify the appropriate personnel to execute the strategy, including in-house and external team members

• Train and oversee staff to ensure enhanced familiarity with Chinese import/export practices, rules and regulations

• Conduct in-depth research and analysis of Chinese purchasing and market trends to increase and improve our Canadian product offerings for export

• Drive the company’s promotional and marketing strategies and campaigns in China to reach sales targets

• Work closely with Canadian counterparts to identify and negotiate contracts for export to China

• Oversee pricing strategies for products to ensure competitive pricing alongside healthy profit margins, negotiate lines of credit, and oversee execution of trade

• Assist with identifying and sourcing quality Chinese goods for import and sale in Canada, negotiating price and ensuring quality

• Represent the company in negotiations with vendors, suppliers, brokers, agents, and local distributors in China. Regularly keep in contact to maintain strong business relationships

• Provide input on product sales forecasts and targets based on historical data and professional expertise

• Assist the GM to create and manage the budget associated with China import and export activities

• Prepare regular reports on import/export operations

• Liaise with key clients and partners in China, answer questions and manage issues as they arise
